Description: This was my absolutely first walker built using millers site, the microcore and everything worked first try!

Description: I built this robot with the help of a programmer in Seattle who wants to learn about BEAM. It only took us two afternoons to complete it, and it is the largest robot I have built so far. It is about 18" square, has adjustable walking strides, and can even be switched from 4 to 6 neuron walking patterns at the click of a few switches. It's only a two motor though, since I wanted it to be simple to construct mechancially. It's kind of evidence that you don't really have to design the robot before you build it, since there was NO design involved, it just kind of emerged from what stuff I had lying around

Description: A two motor walker, similar to the one on Andrew Miller's page. It can climb obstacles about a half an inch high, and moves about 1 1/2 yards a minute. Took me a long time to get it tuned to walk right, and caused me no small amount of trouble with getting the circuit board to work....

Description: This is a new type of 2 motor walker I made from parts of the previous robot. The front motor is totally lift, the back motor is totally drive. It works well, surprisingly! More like a turbot, though. The funky leg design makes this thing walk upside down, sideways. Pretty much any way you set it down, it will walk. It's not as fast as it was in three motor walker stage, but it's more robust. Now I just need to add turn sensors, although it does seem to bounce off things pretty well...maybe I'll just be lazy and leave it as it is.

Bot Name: Boris
Description: BORIS is a robot built based on a kit from mondotronics. It is a six legged walker. It currently has manual control, but it can be attached to a PC or a microcore with the proper drivers. The legs each have a banner (leave it to a company to make room on their kits for banners! :) Anyway, my version has a banner for it's name, BORIS, the BEAM robotics logo, Betatron Electronics, My Richfiles web page address, the mondotronics name, and the muscle wires logo. Muscle wires contract when electrically heated. They are an alloy of Nickel and Titanium. It is ductile when cool, but reshapes itself to an original shape when heated. Really cool stuff, but it eats batteries like candy!
